Location: Camp will take place at UBC-O (specific building/room TBA)
Accessibility: Geering Up strives to make camp accessible to all. Please let us know how we can help.

What happens at Camp?

Camp at Geering Up is all about making science and engineering hands on and engaging. Our activities are a little different each year, but every camp will include some biology, chemistry, physics, electronics, robotics, and engineering. Example activities include making Bristlebots, extracting DNA from strawberries, engineering challenges with LEGO Mindstorms, tours of labs at UBC,  performing chemistry experiments. All activities are scaled to the age group of the camp to make science fun and accessible for everyone.

Activities are repeated each week. As such we suggest that you only sign up for one week : )

Before & After Care

The Before/After Care program offers extended supervision for campers. Before/After Care are not an extension of structured camp activities, but rather a supervised environment where campers play games and watch educational videos. Before Care opens at 8:15AM. After Care closes at 4:00PM. Please pick up your camper promptly, as late fees will apply.

Before Care for the week costs $15 ($3/day), After Care is $20($4/day). We are extremely flexible with booking Before/After care. You may sign up on a day by day basis – we just ask that you let us know of your needs on the morning of each camp day.

Junior Instructor Program

High School students are invited to join us as Junior Instructors. Volunteering as a Junior Instructor is  a unique opportunity for youth to receive leadership training combined with hands-on experience helping in our engineering, science and technology camps. This program is for students entering grade 11 and up in September, including post-secondary students.

Volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt, an evaluation at the end of camp, and a certificate of completion. Reference letters will be available for those who demonstrate exceptional leadership ability and initiative, upon request.

Please contact if your are interested in volunteering as a Junior Instructor for a week of camp.

Registration Policies

We understand that summer plans change! If you cancel more than two weeks prior to the first day of camp, Geering Up will refund camp registration less a $25 reservation and processing fee. If you cancel less than two weeks prior to the first day of camp, Geering Up will refund 50% of the registration fee. Cancellations after 4:00 pm on the Friday before camp begins will receive no refund of registration fees, as it is at that point too late to offer the spot to a wait-listed camper.
